Cookies

This page names the cookies this edition uses. Essential cookies run the pages. Optional analytics cookies stay off unless you accept. Rejecting does not lock any study, rate, or letter form.

A cookie is a small text file a site stores on your device so the site can remember a fact — here, whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies, and, if you accepted, a modest count of visits. Cookies are not the same as the usage records a client sends us for a study. Those records travel by letter and are held under the privacy notice.

Types we use

Essential. The banner choice is stored in localStorage under digitalstackcore_cookie_consent so we do not ask again on every page. That record stays on your device. The pages themselves are static files and do not need a session cookie to be read.

Analytics (optional). Used only if you press Accept. A first-party cookie notes that this edition may count column openings, in aggregate. It is not used to follow you across other sites, and it is not a condition of commissioning work.

How to accept, reject, or clear

On the first visit a banner offers Accept and Reject with equal weight. Your choice is stored under the brand-prefixed key digitalstackcore_cookie_consent. You may change your mind by clearing stored data for digitalstackcore.digital in your browser, after which the banner will appear again. You may also block cookies in the browser itself. Essential operation of the pages — reading studies, sending a letter — continues if you reject.

Third-party cookies

The edition loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Google may receive your IP address when the fonts are fetched. We do not control cookies Google may set on its own domains. If you wish to avoid that request, a browser with font blocking or a local font substitute will still show the text, though the newspaper cut of the page may look plainer.

Images in some columns are requested from Unsplash, Pexels, or Wikimedia Commons. Those hosts may see a request for the picture. They are not sent your form letters.

If you disable cookies

Rejecting optional analytics does not hide rates, studies, or the contact form. If you block all storage, the banner may appear on every visit, which is inconvenient and not a lock. Clearing storage deletes the stored choice and any optional count.
